Job Title

Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Join the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team working on high-speed optical transceivers (100G–1.6T+). The role involves architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical communications products.

The position is hybrid, collaborating with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to meet signal and power integrity and production requirements.

Experience Level

Senior — expected experienced individual. Typical experience profile per company requirements: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, or PhD +3 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include leading complex analog/mixed-signal design blocks from concept to production and collaborating across disciplines.

  • Architect, design, simulate, layout and characterize high-speed AMS CMOS circuits and blocks for optical transceivers.
  • Lead design efforts for large blocks, track deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in design reviews and establish solid design methodology through tapeout and production.
  • Collaborate with package and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity targets are met.
  • Develop and execute laboratory validation, measurement and test setups for produced ICs.
  • Perform design-for-manufacturability analyses and characterization across process, voltage, temperature and reliability concerns.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Must have: Proven experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs in at least three of these areas: high-speed serial links (SERDES, ADC/DAC), link/system modeling, high-performance output drivers, phase locked loops (PLLs), clock distribution, op amps/programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization techniques.
  • Must have: Hands-on experience with mixed-signal design and verification tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, mixed-signal AMS simulations, layout validation tools and Matlab.
  • Preferred: Experience with transceiver applications (backplane/cable), FinFET or GAA technologies, high-frequency floorplanning and layout, and EM/IR/electromigration analyses.
  • Preferred: Laboratory validation experience including ESD methodology and construction of test setups.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience mapping specified by the employer: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years' related experience, Master's degree plus 6 years' related experience, or PhD plus 3 years' related experience. The posting does not specify required fields of study or certifications.
