Job Title
Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team developing high-speed, high-accuracy analog circuits for optical transceivers used in data center and telecom networks.
Work includes architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep-submicron CMOS ICs, collaborating with digital/DSP, package, system and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior. This role expects substantial prior experience in mixed-signal IC design; see Education Requirements for the posting's degree-specific minimum experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include end-to-end mixed-signal IC development and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Architect, design, layout, characterize and productize high-speed CMOS mixed-signal blocks.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips; manage deliverables and schedules.
- Perform and participate in peer reviews and design verification throughout tapeout to production.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on design methodology and best practices.
- Collaborate with digital/DSP, packaging, hardware and system teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Develop and execute lab validation plans and test setups for silicon bring-up.
- Analyze manufacturability concerns including PVT characterization, IR drop and electromigration effects.
- Continuously improve team effectiveness and design processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills for this role.
- Proven experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs; experience should cover at least three of the areas listed below.
- Experience areas (any three or more): high-speed serial links (serdes/ADCs/DACs), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, high-performance phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock distribution, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization techniques.
- Strong mixed-signal design and debug skills, with ability to move designs from concept to production.
- Experience with high-frequency layout practices, power/ground planning, and mixed-signal floorplanning.
- Practical lab validation experience including test setup construction and ESD-aware practices.
Nice-to-have / Preferred
- Experience with transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications) and high-speed optical links.
- Experience with FinFET and GAA process nodes and related design considerations.
- Familiarity with design-for-manufacturability analyses (self-heating, IR drop, electromigration).
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulations and MATLAB.
Education Requirements
Minimums stated by the posting: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience, or PhD plus 3 years of related experience. Specific fields of study were not listed.
