Job Title
Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Member of the Acacia Mixed Signal Design team developing high-speed, high-accuracy analog/mixed-signal CMOS ICs for optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+). The role focuses on architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and productization, and collaboration with DSP, digital, package and module teams.
Experience Level
Senior. Experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements) but this is a senior IC design role involving leading large blocks, mentoring, and delivering production silicon.
Responsibilities
Design, validate and deliver analog/mixed-signal building blocks and subsystems for high-speed optical transceivers.
- Architect, design, simulate, layout and tape-out ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS AMS circuits.
- Lead a large block on complex chips, coordinate deliverables and mentor junior engineers.
- Perform electrical characterization, debug and iterate designs in the lab to production readiness.
- Participate in peer reviews and establish robust design methodologies from concept through production.
- Collaborate with package and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven IC design experience; list separates required vs preferred.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers and data converters; system link modeling; high-performance output drivers; phase-locked loops (PLLs); clock transmission/propagation; opamps and programmable gain amplifiers; equalization techniques.
-
Must-have: Experience with high-speed AMS circuit design, layout awareness for high-frequency signals, and bringing designs to production (characterization over PVT, IR drop, electromigration considerations).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable links), FinFET/GAA process technologies, high-frequency floorplanning and passive components (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
-
Nice-to-have: Laboratory validation experience (ESD practices, test setup construction) and familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre, EMX, mixed-signal AMS simulation flows and MATLAB.
Education Requirements
Degree and experience requirement: Bachelor's degree plus ~8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus ~6 years related experience, or PhD plus ~3 years related experience.
