Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Join the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100G–1.6T+). The role works cross-functionally with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams and reports into the Acacia IC design organization.

Experience Level

Senior.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on delivery of complex mixed-signal blocks from concept through production and on-team technical leadership.

  • Architect, design, simulate, layout and validate high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical transceivers.
  • Lead design efforts for large blocks: set deliverables, track progress and participate in peer reviews.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team.
  • Collaborate with digital/DSP, system, packaging and module teams to meet signal and power integrity specs.
  • Create and execute lab validation and test plans; interpret measurements to refine designs.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability targets and support characterization over process, voltage, temperature.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven domain experience.

  • Experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs; demonstrable hands-on delivery of mixed-signal silicon.
  • Practical experience in at least three of these areas: high-speed serial links (serializers/deserializers/data converters), modeling for system link simulations, high-performance output drivers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock distribution/transmission, operational amplifiers and programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization techniques.
  • Experience with floorplanning and high-frequency layout practices that consider power/ground and analog/digital segregation.
  • Ability to collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet SI/PI and manufacturability requirements.
  • Track record of taking designs through tapeout, characterization and productization.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation and peer-review practices; effective communicator in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with FinFET and GAA technologies.
  • Design-for-manufacturability skills: PVT characterization, electromigration, self-heating, IR drop analysis.
  • Laboratory validation experience including ESD practices and constructing automated test setups.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulations and MATLAB.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience.
