Job Title
Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Design, prototype, measure and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal (AMS) integrated circuits for optical transceivers. Work on the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team and collaborate with digital/DSP, system, package and module engineering groups to deliver production ASICs.
Focused, engineering-first role on high-speed communications products with emphasis on performance, manufacturability and lab validation.
Experience Level
Senior. See Education Requirements for the degree and years-of-experience combinations required for this role.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership of substantial analog/mixed-signal blocks from concept through production and collaboration across disciplines to meet system-level requirements.
- Architect, design, layout and characterize high-speed AMS circuits (25 Gb/s and above) in deep-submicron CMOS processes.
- Lead design efforts for large, complex ASIC blocks; mentor junior engineers and track deliverables.
- Perform peer reviews, establish solid design methodology, and ensure designs meet production requirements.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Develop and execute laboratory validation, test setups and measurements for production qualification.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience. Degree and years guidance are in Education Requirements below and have been removed from this section.
- Proven experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs covering at least three of the following areas:
- High-speed serial links (SERDES, serializers/deserializers, data converters)
- Modeling for system link simulations
- High-performance output drivers
- High-performance phase-locked loops (PLLs)
- Clock transmission and propagation techniques
- Operational amplifiers and programmable gain amplifiers
- Equalization techniques
- Experience with high-frequency layout including floorplanning, power/ground and analog/digital routing.
- Ability to move designs from concept to silicon and support characterization over PVT and manufacturing corner cases.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- Experience with FinFET or GAA technologies.
- Design-for-manufacturability skills: electromigration, self-heating, IR drop analysis and characterization over PVT.
- Laboratory validation skills, ESD practices and construction of test setups.
- Familiarity with Cadence (Virtuoso), Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre validation, EMX, mixed-signal AMS simulations and MATLAB.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualification specifies degree plus experience: Bachelor's degree + 8 years related experience, or Master's degree + 6 years related experience, or PhD + 3 years related experience. The posting does not specify particular fields of study or list professional certifications.
