Job Title
Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Work on mixed-signal IC design for high-speed optical transceivers (100Gβ1.6T+) as part of Acacia's team. Responsible for architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and productization of ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks, collaborating with digital/DSP, packaging and hardware teams.
Experience Level
Senior β role expects substantial experience; the posting specifies degree-plus-years experience (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, simulate, lay out and verify high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical transceivers.
- Lead large design blocks: mentor engineers, track deliverables and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Develop test plans, build laboratory test setups, and support characterization and productization activities.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturability and reliability objectives through PVT, EM, self-heating and IR-drop analysis.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Design, simulation and measurement experience on high-speed ICs with depth in at least three of: serial links (serializers/deserializers/data converters), system link modeling, high-performance output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, opamps/programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization techniques.
- High-frequency layout and floorplanning experience (power/ground, analog/digital routing, passives, transmission lines).
- Design-for-manufacturability experience including PVT characterization, electromigration analysis, self-heating and IR-drop analysis.
- Laboratory validation experience, including ESD practices and constructing test setups.
- Proficiency with EDA and simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulation flows, and MATLAB.
- Ability to lead complex blocks and work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FinFET or GAA process technologies.
- Experience in electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years of related experience, or PhD plus 3 years of related experience (degrees and "related experience" are specified in the posting). No specific fields of study or certifications were listed in the source posting.
