Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer — Acacia (Cisco Systems)
Role Summary
Join the Acacia IC Design team to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS transceivers for high-speed fiber-optic applications. The team focuses on high-performance analog/mixed-signal blocks and system-level signal and power integrity.
This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA with an in-office cadence of three days per week.
Experience Level
Senior. Experience guidance from the posting: Bachelor's degree with 8 years related experience, Master's degree with 6 years, or PhD with 3 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, layout, and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal IP and silicon.
- Lead design efforts for large blocks on complex chips and mentor junior engineers.
- Perform design reviews and establish design methodology from concept through production.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
- Support measurement, lab validation, and qualification activities for released silicon.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience in design, simulation, and measurement of high-speed ICs across multiple areas (e.g., high-speed serial links, high-performance output drivers, equalization).
- Practical experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- High-frequency layout experience, including floorplanning and passive component placement.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre and mixed-signal AMS simulation flows.
- Experience applying design-for-manufacturability (DFM) practices and laboratory validation methods.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with FinFET and GAA process technologies.
- Experience collaborating with packaging and hardware teams on SI/PI tradeoffs.
