Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Join the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal blocks used in high-speed optical transceivers (100G–1.6T+). The role focuses on high-speed AMS circuit development and cross-functional integration with digital/DSP, package, and module teams.

Work is hybrid with an office presence in San Jose, CA three days per week.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Candidates are expected to have substantial prior experience designing high-speed analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits; see Education Requirements for degree-specific minimums.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include ownership of complex mixed-signal blocks from concept through production and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

  • Architect, design, simulate, lay out, and validate high-speed analog and mixed-signal IC blocks in advanced CMOS technologies.
  • Lead design efforts for large blocks, mentor junior engineers, track deliverables, and participate in design reviews.
  • Develop and apply robust design methodologies to ensure manufacturability and productization.
  • Collaborate with digital/DSP, system, packaging, and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Plan and support laboratory validation, measurement, and characterization of prototypes.

Requirements

Technical must-have skills and experience; candidates should meet core AMS design criteria and practical tool usage.

  • Must-have: Significant experience in high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC design and measurement, including practical experience across multiple of the areas listed below.
  • Experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of these areas:
    • High-speed serial links (SERDES, serializers/deserializers, data converters)
    • High-performance output drivers
    • Phase-locked loops (PLLs) and clock transmission/propagation
    • Op amps and programmable gain amplifiers
    • Equalization techniques and link modeling for system simulations
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FinFET/GAA processes, high-frequency layout and floorplanning, DFM/characterization over PVT, electromigration and IR-drop analysis, ESD practices, and laboratory test setups.
  • Familiarity with industry tools and flows (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreX/APS, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulation flows, MATLAB) is desirable.

Education Requirements

Degree and experience minimums specified by the employer: Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience, Master's degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of related experience. No specific fields of study or certifications were listed.
