Job Title

Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Member of the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, testing and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks for high-speed optical transceivers.

This is a hybrid role (three days per week) based in the San Jose, CA office. The role collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects substantial experience designing and validating high-speed analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits; see Education Requirements for specific years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Deliver complex mixed-signal IC blocks from concept through production while mentoring teammates and coordinating across disciplines.

  • Architect, design, simulate, lay out, measure and productize high-speed analog/mixed-signal CMOS circuits.
  • Lead large blocks on complex chips; manage deliverables and participate in peer design reviews.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity specifications.
  • Support lab validation, characterization across PVT, and production handoff activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team design methodology and process improvements.

Requirements

Key technical must-haves and preferred skills. Degrees and years-of-experience are listed separately under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Experience in design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas:
    • High-speed serial links (serializers/deserializers, data converters)
    • Modeling for system link simulations
    • High-performance output drivers
    • Phase-locked loops (PLLs)
    • Clock transmission/propagation techniques
    • Operational amplifiers and programmable gain amplifiers
    • Equalization techniques
  • Practical experience with high-frequency layout and floorplanning for mixed-signal designs.
  • Proven ability to perform lab validation, construct test setups, and apply ESD practices.
  • Proficiency with mixed-signal simulation and design tools.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with FinFET/GAA technologies, DFM and reliability analysis (PVT characterization, electromigration, self-heating, IR drop), and EM/layout verification tools.
  • Nice-to-have tools: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Calibre, EMX, AMS simulation flows, and MATLAB.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience. No specific field-of-study was specified in the posting.
