Job Title

Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Member of the Acacia mixed-signal IC design team responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers.

Work closely with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to deliver validated ASIC blocks for 100G–1.6T+ optical communications products.

Experience Level

Senior level. Role expects substantial hands-on IC design and delivery experience; see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mapping.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, simulate, lay out and characterize high-speed analog/mixed-signal IC blocks for optical transceivers.
  • Lead design efforts for large/complex blocks, track deliverables and participate in design reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team design methodology from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
  • Develop and execute lab validation plans, debug prototypes, and iterate designs based on measurements.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturability targets including PVT characterization, IR drop and electromigration considerations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs in multiple of the areas listed below.
  • Expertise with high-speed serial link components such as serializers/deserializers and data converters.
  • Experience with high-performance output drivers, PLLs, clock transmission and equalization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with analog building blocks such as opamps and programmable gain amplifiers.
  • Practical experience in layout and high-frequency layout considerations (floorplanning, power/ground routing, analog/digital partitioning).
  • Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, AMS simulation flows, Calibre, and Matlab.
  • Ability to independently drive complex design tasks and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
  • Experience in FinFET and GAA technologies.
  • Experience with EM/IR analysis, self-heating characterization, and DFM practices.
  • Laboratory validation experience including ESD practices and construction of test setups.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years related experience, or Master's degree plus 6 years related experience, or PhD plus 3 years related experience.
