Analog Layout Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize physical layouts for analog and mixed-signal circuits to meet performance, area, power, and reliability targets. Work with circuit design, process technology, and package teams to deliver validated layouts for production chips.
This role contributes to layout methodology, verification, and tooling improvements to increase productivity and product quality.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include detailed analog layout and verification activities, floorplanning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Design complex analog and mixed-signal circuit layouts from specifications.
- Perform layout verification: DRC, electrical reliability checks, IR drop validation, electromigration analysis, and ESD verification.
- Develop and analyze floorplans, power grids, ESD structures, and signal routing to meet performance and reliability targets.
- Perform microfloorplanning and detailed signal planning (shielding, signal matching, critical nets).
- Optimize area, power efficiency, and performance through layout methodologies.
- Troubleshoot layout, tool, flow, and methodology issues; work with EDA and process teams to resolve problems.
- Collaborate with circuit, process, and package teams to negotiate trade-offs and meet project schedules.
- Drive and implement new approaches to improve layout productivity, quality, and reliability.

- Proficiency in analog layout design fundamentals and analog/mixed-signal circuit concepts.
- Hands-on experience with EDA layout and verification tools such as Cadence Virtuoso Layout Suite, Calibre DRC, and extraction/debug tools.
- Expertise in floorplanning, hierarchical layout planning, and routing for analog/mixed-signal blocks.
- Familiarity with reliability verification practices, including high-voltage rules and electronic interconnect reliability.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Preferred: demonstrated troubleshooting/problem-solving in analog layout and experience with high-performance, high-reliability analog and mixed-signal designs.
- Preferred: history of contributing to layout methodology innovations that improve efficiency and quality.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field plus 4+ years of industry experience; OR Master's degree plus 2+ years of industry experience; OR PhD with relevant skills. (The posting specifies degree + years as the qualification path.)
