Role Summary

Intern will support Renesas MID (Memory Interface Division) on development of the next-generation DDR PMIC. Work includes researching PMIC control architectures, running simulations at multiple levels, and implementing circuits in Cadence under guidance from design and application engineering.

Strong hands-on engineering experience and potential for a full-time offer based on performance.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for students or early-career candidates. Summer 2027 internship (fixed-term).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Research and evaluate PMIC control architectures for next-generation DDR PMICs.
• Perform behavior- and transistor-level simulations across multiple abstraction levels.
• Design and build circuits in Cadence; iterate from simulation to layout-ready designs.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering (DE) and Application Engineering (AE) teams.
• Document findings, present results, and incorporate feedback from mentors.

Requirements

Core technical and logistical requirements:

• Solid background in power electronics and analog circuit design.
• Familiarity with behavior simulation tools such as SIMPLIS and transistor-level design in Cadence.
• Self-driven research capability and ability to run and interpret multi-level simulations.
• Ability to implement circuits in Cadence and to work effectively with engineering mentors.
• Available for the Summer 2027 internship period (May 24-Aug 13) and willing to be placed in San Jose, San Diego, or Plano.

Education Requirements

Preferred: current Master's or PhD student (has not graduated before September 2027). Relevant fields: Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Analog Design, or closely related technical disciplines. No specific certifications required; research or equivalent practical experience in power/analog design is valued.
