Analog Engineer Intern - Master's Degree

Role Summary

Entry-level analog IC design internship within Marvell's Central Engineering group. Work on high-speed analog and electro-optical interface circuits for AI and cloud data center applications.

This is a 6-month on-site contract in Pavia, Italy, suitable for sponsoring an industrial Master Thesis or for extracurricular thesis work during a Master/PhD program. You will gain practical experience with advanced process nodes and CAD tools.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Internship — suitable for current Master's students or early-stage PhD candidates. No specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Work with the analog team to design and validate high-speed integrated circuits; learn CAD tools and layout techniques.

  • Design integrated circuits for electrical and electro-optical interfaces operating at 100+ Gb/s.
  • Use advanced process nodes (3nm FinFET and 2nm GAAFET) where applicable.
  • Learn and apply CAD tools (primarily Cadence) for circuit design and simulation.
  • Develop and apply analog and high-speed layout techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to deliver design objectives.

Requirements

Key skills and attributes for a successful candidate.

  • Academic knowledge of CMOS analog design (must-have).
  • Understanding of CMOS processes and fabrication (must-have).
  • Basic knowledge of IC layout and layout-for-performance techniques (must-have).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team (must-have).
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Italian and English (B2 level or higher) (must-have).
  • Nice-to-have: Basic RF design techniques.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and willing to learn new technologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering (required for sponsorship of an industrial Master Thesis) OR currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program and working on a thesis (eligible for an extracurricular contract). Internship is structured to support a Master Thesis sponsorship where applicable.
