Analog EDA Backend Technical Lead
Role Summary
Lead development and support of backend EDA tooling for analog design flows. Work with analog design and CAD teams to maintain, improve and automate flows for layout, DRC/LVS, extraction and basic simulation.
Coordinate with EDA vendors, define tooling roadmaps, and guide implementation and validation of solutions for production designs.
Experience Level
Senior β preferred 4β8 years of experience in EDA/CAD for backend analog design.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include technical leadership, tool integration, and automation for analog backend flows:
- Lead support and enhancement of backend analog EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, layout, DRC, LVS, extraction, basic simulation).
- Evaluate and integrate third-party EDA tools and coordinate with vendors on evaluations, licensing, and roadmaps.
- Develop automation, scripts and utilities using Python, TCL, Cadence SKILL, Unix/shell.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deploy and validate flows for production designs.
- Mentor team members, manage tasks and priorities, and drive project deliverables.
- Investigate optional areas such as AI/ML, compute infrastructure, and data management to improve tooling.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional attributes:
- 4β8 years experience in EDA/CAD for backend analog design tools (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Virtuoso/layout, DRC, LVS, extraction and basic circuit simulation.
- Proficiency in Python, TCL, Cadence SKILL, and Unix/shell scripting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to collaborate across functions, manage time, delegate, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience mentoring or people management is an advantage.
Education Requirements
