Job Title
Analog Designer
Role Summary
Design and validate analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital IP targeting advanced process technologies, with emphasis on high-speed GDDR and high-speed clocking (PLLs).
Work within system and packaging teams to model, simulate, and characterize signal integrity and power delivery across silicon, package, and PCB to meet performance requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Typical candidates have several years of relevant design, simulation, or research experience.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities for this role include:
- Define, specify, implement, and validate next-generation high-speed GDDR and PLL IP.
- Design, model, simulate, and characterize high-speed signal propagation and power delivery networks (PDNs).
- Run channel and package/PCB simulations to generate performance metrics and compare against specifications.
- Extract and integrate vendor models for package, PCB, and sockets; collect standardized models for simulation use.
- Review layouts and provide feedback for refinement to meet speed and signal-integrity targets.
- Apply circuit and system engineering practices to evaluate technical adequacy and feasibility of designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (package, board, verification) to ensure system-level performance.
- Document results and technical decisions; support design handoff to layout and verification teams.
- Travel: None required.
Requirements
Required technical skills and tools (must-have):
- Hardware description languages: Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- Software: C, C++, or Python for modeling and automation.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces: GDDR, DDR, LPDDR, PLL, HBM, or SerDes.
- Analog/mixed-signal and high-speed digital simulation tools: Spectre/SpectreRF, HSPICE, Cadence environment, or VCS.
- Unix/Linux working environment competency.
- Ability to create RTL-level designs, logic and circuit design, and layout plans.
- Experience may be gained through graduate coursework, research, or internships.
Nice-to-have: None specified.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. The posting allows equivalent experience gained via graduate coursework, research, or internships.
