Analog Design Staff Engineer
SynopsysJob Title
Analog Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Lead signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis for high-speed memory and interconnect IP across die, package, and PCB domains. Work with IP development, CAD, layout, and customer teams to model, simulate, and resolve SI/PI issues that affect tape-outs and product schedules.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, or high-speed interface design.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and cross-functional responsibilities:
- Review and analyze die, package, and PCB layouts for SI/PI performance on high-speed interfaces.
- Model, simulate, and verify DDR, HBM, UCIe, PCIe, and Ethernet interfaces using SPICE and 3D field solvers.
- Drive improvements to SI/PI methodology flows and build automation to increase accuracy and turnaround time.
- Lead SI/PI R&D for emerging standards (MRDIMM, LPDDR6, HBM4, UCIe) and translate findings into IP and tool requirements.
- Debug and resolve SI/PI issues in customer SoC, package, and board designs across application domains.
- Collaborate with IP development, customer engagement, layout, and CAD teams on cross-functional projects.
- Script and automate simulation workflows (Python, TCL) to streamline repetitive tasks and data processing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, or high-speed interface design.
- Strong working knowledge of transmission line theory, time- and frequency-domain analysis, and S-parameter modeling.
- Proficiency with SPICE simulation tools and experience using 3D electromagnetic field solvers for layout extraction and analysis.
- Practical understanding of DDR, HBM, UCIe, PCIe, or Ethernet interface architectures and their SI/PI challenges.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English for global and customer-facing collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Python and TCL scripting for simulation automation and data post-processing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
