Analog Design Sr. Staff Engineer
SynopsysJob Title
Analog Design Sr. Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Senior analog and mixed-signal IC design engineer responsible for delivering high-performance SerDes, PHY and related mixed-signal blocks used in PCIe Gen7/Gen8, AI, cloud and networking platforms. You will work on transistor-level design, architecture tradeoffs, integration with digital teams, and contribute to product IP roadmaps.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects extensive experience; the posting specifies a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include architecture exploration, detailed circuit design, and cross-team integration.
- Design and deliver analog/mixed-signal blocks: PLLs, CDRs, equalizers, ADCs/DACs, clocking systems for high-speed SerDes and PHY products.
- Perform architecture exploration and tradeoff analysis for next-generation connectivity IP (PCIe Gen7/Gen8, AI, networking).
- Execute transistor-level design, simulation, and optimization focusing on performance, power, jitter, and signal integrity.
- Collaborate with layout, verification, digital design, and system teams to ensure correct mixed-signal integration.
- Support silicon bring-up, characterization, and root-cause analysis with lab and customer engineering teams.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering staff on circuit analysis, layout considerations, and debugging.
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience to perform this role.
- Must-have: Extensive experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design for high-performance SerDes, PLLs, CDRs, PHYs, ADCs, DACs, equalization circuits, or clocking systems.
- Must-have: Strong transistor-level design skills, noise analysis, jitter budgeting, signal integrity, and power optimization.
- Must-have: Proven ability to resolve complex circuit and system-level challenges and influence technical direction across organizations.
- Must-have: Experience collaborating effectively with layout, verification, digital, and system engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug activities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
