Role Summary

Senior analog design architect responsible for driving the architecture, analog circuit design guidance, and performance optimization of next-generation DDR and HBM PHY interfaces in Synopsys' IP portfolio. The role works on a multi-site engineering team and interfaces with digital design, verification, layout teams and external customers.

Base salary range listed: $189,000–$284,000 (annual). Role is open to candidates in Canada and the United States; preference for hybrid work with in-person collaboration when appropriate.

Experience Level

Senior level - minimum of 12 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities focus on translating customer and market requirements into PHY features, guiding analog implementation, and supporting product integration and standards engagement.

  • Capture marketing and customer requirements for DDR and HBM PHY interface performance and functionality and translate them into product features.
  • Guide and mentor custom analog designers on circuit implementation, simulation, and optimization for performance, power, and area.
  • Coordinate with logical design, logical verification, analog verification, and layout teams to ensure cohesive implementation.
  • Support customers during product implementation and troubleshooting in customer integrations.
  • Track industry developments and represent the company in standards committees.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Deep understanding of high-speed interface principles, mixed-signal design, and off-chip signaling.
  • Proven ability to produce and maintain written specifications and documentation for complex IP.
  • Proficiency in custom analog design, circuit simulation, test planning, and verification of complex integrated circuit components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for mixed-signal interfaces and PHYs.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in analog/mixed-signal or high-speed interface design.
  • Experience working in collaborative, multi-site engineering teams and communicating with customers.
  • Nice-to-have: prior experience with DDR and HBM PHY design and participation in standards committees.
