Role Summary

The role involves expertise in analog/mixed-signal circuit design and architecture, specifically within AMD's Serdes Technology Group, which develops high-performance electrical and optical transceivers. The position demands a strong background in ultra-high-speed electrical and/or optical PHY design.

Experience Level

The ideal candidate should possess either a Ph.D in electrical engineering or a related discipline with at least 6 years of industrial experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields accompanied by 10 years of relevant experience in optical and/or electrical transceiver design.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Analog Design Expert include:

  • Mentoring sub-block owners and conducting peer reviews of design and verification results.
  • Collaborating with pre-tapeout verification and post-silicon validation teams to analyze silicon results and ensure successful project completion.
  • Owning and defining macro-level high-speed clocking systems for transceivers, including reference clock, PLL, buffers, and multiplexers.
  • Managing power, area, and jitter budgets for clocking blocks while ensuring excellent communication and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate a self-starter mentality with strong collaboration skills across various functional teams. Excellent communication and documentation skills are a must. Additionally, candidates should have proven experience in clocking systems for ultra-high-speed electrical and optical transceivers.

Education Requirements

Ph.D in electrical engineering or related fields plus 6 years of industrial experience, or M.S. plus 10 years of relevant industrial experience.
