Job Title

Analog Design Engineer (custom DRAM circuits)

Role Summary

The Analog Design Engineer will design mixed-signal and memory-related analog circuits that form the core of Normal Computing's unconventional computing architecture. The role spans clean-sheet circuit design through parasitic extraction, layout, tapeout, and silicon bring-up.

You will work with architecture, digital, and layout teams to develop analog IP, library cells, macros, and measurement plans that meet throughput-per-watt objectives for production silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify explicit years of experience.

Responsibilities

The role requires ownership of analog development end-to-end and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Lead full analog development cycle: research, exploratory design, implementation, and verification.
  • Design and deliver analog library cells, macros, and custom bitcells in schematic and layout.
  • Perform parasitic extraction, characterization, and support silicon bring-up and debug.
  • Develop or acquire analog IP required for Normal silicon products.
  • Drive or coordinate analog EDA tool development and automation for design flows.
  • Evaluate memory designs, including SRAM, DRAM, and compute-in-memory (CIM) architectures.
  • Collaborate with silicon architecture, digital, and layout teams to meet performance, noise, and reliability targets.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven track record developing analog IP from spec to GDSII, with tapeout and silicon bring-up experience.
  • Experience with memory technologies (SRAM, DRAM) at core levels, including bitcell arrays and peripheral circuits.
  • Designed and characterized custom bitcells in schematic and layout.
  • Fluency in Cadence analog flows (Virtuoso, Spectre, Assembler, extraction, layout, HSMC, characterization).
  • Deep understanding of noise, variability, and their impacts on silicon performance and reliability.

Nice-to-have:

  • Led, taped out, and brought up compute-in-memory (CIM) chips.
  • Hands-on experience with chip measurement, debug, and characterization in a lab environment.
  • Experience using scripting or AI tools (Python, Perl, etc.) to automate design flows and post-processing.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
