Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for the physical implementation of IP, subsystems, or full IC designs from RTL synthesis through GDSII. Work includes floorplanning, placement and routing, timing closure, ECOs and physical verification to meet technology and reliability rules.
Member of the digital physical-design team focused on optimization and problem solving across technology nodes and design flows.

Responsibilities
The role focuses on delivering manufacturable, optimized physical designs that meet timing, power, area and reliability targets.
- Perform RTL-to-GDS physical implementation including synthesis, floorplanning, placement, routing and signoff preparation.
- Drive timing closure using STA and implement ECOs to meet timing and functional constraints.
- Ensure compliance with technology and reliability rules: DRC, LVS, electromigration and IR drop checks.
- Execute physical verification flows and coordinate fixes with layout and design teams.
- Define and apply physical design strategies appropriate for the technology node.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, verification, and CAD teams to resolve physical-design issues.

- Must-have: Experience in full RTL-to-GDS physical implementation flow, including floorplanning, placement & routing, timing closure (STA), ECOs and physical verification (DRC/LVS/EM/IR).
- Must-have: Practical problem-solving experience in meeting timing, power, area and manufacturability trade-offs.
- Nice-to-have: Experience across multiple technology nodes and familiarity with PDK and foundry rule sets.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting skills (Tcl, Python) and familiarity with common EDA toolchains for synthesis, place-and-route and signoff.
