Job Title

Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Analog Design Engineer will design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed IO and die-to-die interfaces at advanced process nodes within Intel's Hard IP and Test Chip Development team.

The role works with cross-functional teams (architecture, logic, layout, validation, SOC) to meet performance, power, and area targets for analog IP. This position requires on-site attendance at least four days per week.

Experience Level

Mid-level (professional engineer). Years-of-experience guidance is specified in the Education Requirements section.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, analysis, validation, and cross-team collaboration for analog/mixed-signal IP.

  • Design, develop, and build analog circuits for mixed-signal IP targeting advanced process nodes.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation using SPICE-based tools and verify behavior against specifications.
  • Create and execute test plans to validate designs at circuit and block levels.
  • Support and collaborate with layout engineers to optimize circuit performance and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews and produce technical documentation and regular status reports.
  • Debug circuit issues, evaluate power and signal integrity, and implement leakage-reduction techniques.
  • Work with SOC partners to integrate IP and meet system-level requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools for day-one contribution. Education degree requirements are listed in the Education Requirements section below.

  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation and analog behavior modeling (SPICE, Cadence, Synopsys, etc.).
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, and layout considerations for analog circuits.
  • Knowledge of TX/RX blocks, I/O fundamentals, and analog design principles (noise, linearity, matching, stability).
  • Proficiency with Cadence analog IC design tools.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to make transistor-level design trade-offs independently.
  • Good verbal and written communication; ability to provide constructive technical feedback and work collaboratively across teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • IP top-level design experience (floor planning, power delivery, ESD, bump map, top-level simulations, signal integrity).
  • Experience integrating power, performance, and area optimizations; mixed-signal design experience.
  • Scripting experience (Python, MATLAB) and understanding of statistical analysis or DFM.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of circuit design experience, OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of circuit design experience. Related academic coursework, internships, or equivalent practical experience may satisfy preferred qualifications.
