Job Title

Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Hard IP and Test Chip Development team delivers analog and mixed-signal IP for client, datacenter, AI and foundry products. This role designs and validates analog circuits for high-speed serial I/O and die-to-die interfaces at advanced process nodes, collaborating with architecture, logic, validation and SOC partners.

Focus areas include transistor-level design, simulation, validation and layout support to meet performance, power and area targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typically requires several years of hands-on circuit design experience; see Education Requirements for the role-specific minimums.

Responsibilities

Design, verify and support delivery of analog and mixed-signal IP and circuit blocks.

  • Develop transistor-level analog circuits and perform SPICE-based simulations (Cadence, Synopsys, LTSpice, etc.).
  • Create and execute test plans; validate designs against circuit and block microarchitecture specifications.
  • Support layout activities and work with layout engineers to optimize circuit performance, power and area.
  • Participate in design reviews and produce technical documentation and status reports.
  • Collaborate with architecture, logic design, validation and SOC teams to integrate IP.
  • Debug simulations and address power integrity, signal integrity and leakage issues.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Proven transistor-level analog circuit design experience and ability to make design trade-offs.
  • Hands-on experience with SPICE simulation and analog behavior modeling; familiarity with Cadence analog IC design tools.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity and layout considerations for analog circuits.
  • Knowledge of TX/RX blocks, I/O fundamentals, and core analog design principles (noise, linearity, matching, stability).
  • Strong analytical skills, independent problem-solving and clear communication in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • IP top-level design experience (floor planning, power delivery, ESD, bump map, top-level sims, signal integrity).
  • Mixed-signal design experience and experience optimizing performance, power and area.
  • Scripting experience (Python, MATLAB) and familiarity with statistical analysis and design-for-manufacturability.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field with 3+ years of circuit design experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field with 2+ years of circuit design experience. Preferred qualifications may be met via a combination of work experience, internships, or academic coursework.
