Job Title

Analog Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop analog and mixed-signal circuits for integrated voltage regulation and power management IPs (IVRs, LDOs, DC-DC converters, power gating) used in Intel products. Work with architecture, digital, layout, and platform teams to ensure robust power delivery integration from circuit design through silicon validation.

Primary focus areas include power integrity, efficiency, transient response, low-noise design, and post-silicon characterization in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.

Experience Level

Mid-level engineering role. Typical experience combinations accepted: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +4 years, PhD +2 years (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include design, analysis, validation, and integration of power delivery circuits and subsystems.

  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal ICs for power delivery IPs (IVRs, LDOs, DC-DC converters, power gating).
  • Perform transient, AC, and noise simulations to evaluate stability, load regulation, droop response, and PSRR.
  • Analyze and optimize power delivery performance: efficiency, transient response, and power integrity.
  • Perform tradeoff analysis across power, performance, area, bandwidth, and quiescent current.
  • Create floorplans and guide layout with attention to matching, parasitics, current density, and clean power routing.
  • Perform power integrity analysis including IR drop, decoupling strategies, and package interaction effects.
  • Develop and execute validation test plans; support post-silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug.
  • Document design methodologies, specifications, and validation results; participate in design reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional traits.

  • Experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design (amplifiers, LDOs, PLLs, ADCs, or similar).
  • Proven experience taking designs from circuit to layout to silicon prototype.
  • Strong background in VLSI and industry-standard CAD tools such as Cadence Spectre, AMS Designer, Virtuoso, and StarRC.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform simulations (transient, AC, noise) and system-level tradeoffs.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across architecture, digital, layout, and platform teams.
  • Detail-oriented with disciplined documentation, validation, and participation in design reviews.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of power delivery systems, power management architectures, or PMIC design.
  • Experience in mixed-signal modeling and system analysis of complex feedback systems.

Education Requirements

One of the following combinations is required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience will be considered where specified.
