Job Title
Analog Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize analog and mixed-signal circuits for power delivery and mixed-signal IPs in advanced CMOS process nodes. Work on circuit design, simulation, post-layout verification, and hand-off to layout and validation teams to meet power, performance, area, timing, and yield targets.
Position is part of a multi-site engineering team supporting Intel sites; the role follows a hybrid work model with on-site work at the assigned Intel location.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically 3+ years of relevant analog or mixed-signal circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification, and collaboration to deliver robust analog/mixed-signal IP.
- Design and develop complex analog and mixed-signal circuits (amplifiers, LDOs, PLLs, ADCs and related blocks) for advanced CMOS technologies.
- Perform schematic-level design, simulation, optimization, and trade-off analysis for power, performance, area, timing, and yield.
- Execute analog block floor-planning and extract chip parameters for robust designs.
- Conduct post-layout simulations with extracted parasitics and tune designs to meet specifications.
- Develop and implement test plans to verify designs against microarchitecture specifications and analyze silicon/debug data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, layout, validation, and test teams to resolve design issues and ensure successful tapeout.
Requirements
Core technical and tool requirements for the role.
Must-have
- Proven experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design, including blocks such as amplifiers, LDOs, PLLs, and ADCs.
- Practical knowledge of analog layout techniques: floor-planning, matching, shielding, and parasitic optimization.
- Experience with industry-standard CAD and simulation tools (Cadence Spectre/AMS Designer/Virtuoso, StarRC or equivalent) for schematic design and simulation.
- Experience performing post-layout simulation and interpreting extracted parasitics.
- Ability to develop verification/test plans and iterate designs based on measured data.
Nice-to-have
- Expertise in power delivery and power management systems.
- Hands-on experience transitioning designs from schematic to layout and silicon prototyping.
- Familiarity with analog validation and debugging methodologies and tools.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 2+ years of experience; OR PhD (no prior experience required). Related technical fields are acceptable.
