Job Title

Analog Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop analog and mixed-signal IP for high-speed I/O and memory interface PHYs. Work within the high-speed I/O design team to deliver transistor-level circuit designs, validate behavior against specifications, and support post-silicon readiness for high-volume manufacturing.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience range: 2–8 years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Contribute across the analog design cycle from specification to silicon validation.

  • Design, develop, and build analog circuits in advanced process nodes.
  • Perform transistor-level circuit design, chip parameter extraction, and analog behavior modeling.
  • Optimize designs for power, performance, area, timing, and yield.
  • Create and execute test plans; analyze measured results against simulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications and resolve performance issues.
  • Conduct layout reviews and coordinate with layout teams on placement, routing, and signoff issues.
  • Support post-silicon validation and debug to achieve manufacturing readiness.
  • Improve design methodologies to enhance quality and reduce cycle time.

Requirements

Core technical skills required; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in CMOS circuit design and RC circuit fundamentals.
  • Experience with analog circuit simulation and transistor-level verification (Spectre, HSPICE, PrimeSim).
  • Experience designing high-speed I/O circuits (SerDes, DDR/LPDDR, HBM) and related blocks (PLLs, DLLs, clocking).
  • Knowledge of layout design principles, DRC/LVS, and post-layout extraction tools.
  • Ability to perform lab measurements and correlate data with simulation results.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulating high-speed interconnects and channels.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to high-speed digital design, timing closure, and digitally assisted analog techniques.
  • Analog behavioral modeling using Verilog-A.
  • Scripting for design automation (Python, Perl, TCL, C).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is specified. Candidates with a Master's or PhD are acceptable; hiring guidance indicates ~2–8 years of experience with a Bachelor's or Master's, or no experience required for PhD holders.
