Job Title
Analog Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design, develop, and optimize analog and mixed-signal circuits for DDR IP in advanced process nodes. Work within cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, power- and area-efficient PHY/CBB blocks that meet timing, reliability, and yield targets.
This position is based in Penang and is eligible for a hybrid work model (split between on-site and off-site work).
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 7+ years of industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree/experience combinations).
Responsibilities
Accountable for on-chip analog and mixed-signal circuit design, verification, and integration into PHY/IP blocks.
- Design mixed-signal circuits: high-speed transmitters/receivers, equalizers, DLLs, clock distribution, on-die regulators, and reference blocks.
- Perform circuit simulations and analysis to meet power, performance, area, timing, and yield objectives.
- Create and execute test plans to validate functionality, performance, and reliability against microarchitecture specifications.
- Collaborate with layout and integration teams to optimize circuits for electrical robustness and manufacturability.
- Develop PHY-level collateral such as timing libraries and behavioral models; perform mixed-signal verification and support system integration.
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional problem resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (excluding formal degree requirements listed under Education Requirements).
- Proven analog and mixed-signal design expertise, including high-speed TX/RX blocks, DLLs, LDOs, and power optimization techniques.
- Proficiency with circuit simulation and verification tools such as Cadence ADE, Spectre, AMS verification, and StarRC.
- Experience with JEDEC LPDDR/DDR specifications and DDR protocols.
- Ability to create test plans, timing library files, behavioral models (BMOD), and other CBB integration collateral.
- Experience in mixed-signal verification and collaborating with layout teams to ensure electrical and functional robustness.
- Programming skills for automation and verification (Python or Perl).
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Knowledge of RTL/SystemVerilog, static timing analysis, floor-planning, metal-routing, and power-grid optimization.
- Familiarity with post-silicon validation and production challenges in advanced technology nodes.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and disciplined execution skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field with 7+ years industry experience; OR Master's degree with 5+ years relevant experience; OR PhD (no prior industry experience required). Fields referenced: Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, related technical disciplines. (No explicit certification requirements listed.)
