Analog and Mixed Signal Intern (16-month Co-op)
Role Summary
Work within the IP Group on physical design for high-speed SerDes products, contributing to layout and design tasks for advanced analog and mixed-signal components. Collaborate with local and global analog, digital, and mixed-signal engineers to deliver R&D and customer-facing implementations.
This is a hands-on co-op role focused on learning and contributing to real product deliverables for 128G/224G SERDES and related technologies.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students in their penultimate year of a Bachelor's program (3rd year for typical 4-year degrees) enrolled in a 16-month co-op.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities expected during the co-op:
- Design physical layout of custom analog and digital components for SERDES IP projects, including 128G and 224G standards.
- Collaborate with local and global engineering teams to integrate analog, digital, and mixed-signal blocks.
- Work on semiconductor R&D tasks targeting future industry protocols.
- Contribute to project schedules and help deliver product commitments to customers.
- Take ownership of assigned design deliverables and participate in reviews and iterations.
Requirements
Minimum skills and traits for a successful candidate:
- Foundational understanding of electrical circuits and components.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication and the initiative to drive personal learning.
- Familiarity with scripting (TCL, Python) is a plus but not required.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related technical field; in 3rd year of study (penultimate year for 16-month co-op programs). Equivalent practical experience not specified.
