Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
BroadcomJob Title
Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and subsystems, including power-management and sensor-related IP. Work with cross-functional teams on architecture, transistor-level design, layout, verification, lab characterization and production test development.
Experience Level
Senior level - experience expectations vary by degree: typically BEng +8 years, MEng +6 years, or PhD +3 years.
Responsibilities
Deliver analog/mixed-signal IP from architecture through silicon bring-up and production-support.
- Architect, design and optimize transistor-level analog blocks and sub-systems (opamps, comparators, bandgaps, ADCs/DACs, sensors, power converters, LDOs, chargers).
- Perform behavioral and transistor-level simulations, including corner, Monte Carlo, aging and stress analyses for pre- and post-layout.
- Oversee or produce custom physical layout and coordinate with package/layout engineers on pinout and routing.
- Define on-chip interfaces and specify external PCB components; design or review PC test board schematics for IC evaluation.
- Characterize and debug IC performance in the lab; collaborate with ATE teams to develop production tests.
- Document design, verification and measured performance of delivered IP.
- Either act as an individual contributor or lead small design teams to deliver project milestones.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools and behaviors.
- Proficiency in analog circuit design and deep knowledge of CMOS device behavior.
- Strong transistor-level design experience (Cadence Analog Artist) and layout experience (Cadence Virtuoso).
- In-depth knowledge of analog and high-voltage layout techniques.
- Experience with simulation, verification and extraction flows; familiarity with corner and Monte Carlo analyses.
- Experience supporting experimental verification and ATE; bench testing for post-silicon debug is a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD tool flows and thorough working knowledge of Cadence toolset.
- Ability to optimize designs for power, area and performance; strong problem-solving and communication skills; team collaboration.
- Knowledge of switched power supplies, high-voltage BCD technologies and high-voltage/power circuitry is highly desirable.
Education Requirements
Degree options with corresponding experience: Bachelor's in Engineering with 8+ years related experience; Master's in Engineering with 6+ years related experience; or PhD in Engineering with 3+ years related experience.
