Job Title
Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and IP (opamps, comparators, bandgaps, ADCs/DACs, power converters, sensors). Deliver transistor-level designs, physical layout coordination, verification, and documentation for production chips.
Work with cross-functional teams including digital design, package/layout engineers, and test/ATE engineers. Role may be individual contributor or lead small design teams.
Experience Level
Senior — typical experience expectations: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +6 years, or PhD +3 years.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design, verification, layout coordination, and test support for analog and mixed-signal ICs.
- Architect, design, and optimize analog blocks and subsystems at the transistor level.
- Perform behavioral and corner/Monte Carlo/aging/over-voltage simulations pre- and post-layout.
- Create or review custom physical layout; coordinate with layout and package engineers on pinout/ballout.
- Define internal chip interfaces and select PCB components for testing.
- Develop and review PC test board schematics and collaborate with ATE teams to develop production tests.
- Characterize and debug IC performance using laboratory equipment; support post-silicon bench testing.
- Document design, verification, and test results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong analog design skills and deep knowledge of CMOS devices and analog/high-voltage layout techniques.
- Experience with Cadence design environment, including transistor-level design (Analog Artist) and Virtuoso layout tools.
- Experience with simulation, verification, and extraction tools and methodologies (corner, Monte Carlo, post-layout).
- Ability to optimize power, area, and performance and to implement and tune circuit architectures.
- Hands-on experience with lab characterization, debugging, and working with ATE/test teams.
- Effective written and verbal communication and ability to work in a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with switched power supplies, high-voltage BCD technologies, LDOs, buck/boost/buck-boost converters, and battery chargers.
- Bench testing for post-silicon evaluation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years; or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
