Analog and Mixed Signal Design Engineer
BroadcomJob Title
Analog and Mixed Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design on-die Process, Voltage, and Temperature (PVT) monitoring IP and mixed-signal analog blocks for advanced process nodes. Work spans schematic design, post-layout validation, digital modeling, IP documentation, and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 6+ years of mixed-signal and analog design experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will own design, verification, and delivery activities for mixed-signal IP and support silicon validation.
- Architect and design analog/mixed-signal circuits: bandgaps, ADCs/DACs, regulators, comparators, GPIOs.
- Supervise layout and perform post-layout validation using SPICE simulations to ensure silicon success.
- Develop behavioral and gate-level models; validate functionality with Verilog simulations.
- Produce EDA tool views, timing models, datasheets, and technical integration documentation.
- Define post-silicon test plans, analyze test data, and guide silicon bring-up and validation.
Requirements
Core technical and professional requirements. Degree information is listed under Education Requirements.
-
Must-have:
- 6+ years of mixed-signal and analog design experience.
- Deep knowledge of analog fundamentals: gain, bandwidth, stability, device physics, process variation, and statistical Monte Carlo analysis.
- Experience with layout effects on performance and post-layout validation using SPICE simulators (Spectre, HSPICE, PrimeSim).
- Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso and familiarity with digital implementation flows.
- Experience with Verilog modeling and digital simulation flows; familiarity with Synopsys PrimeTime and simulators such as Xcelium or VCS.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and lead technical tasks.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience building and delivering mixed-signal IP.
- Laboratory testing familiarity and ability to guide lab teams.
- Scripting skills (Python, Perl, SKILL) for automation.
- Knowledge of ESD and latch-up design rules; silicon failure analysis and debugging skills.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering specified. (No alternative degree fields or "equivalent experience" language was provided.)
