AMS Validation Intern, BS - Summer 2027

Role Summary

Intern on the analog/mixed-signal validation team responsible for lab measurements and automated test development for amplifiers and high-speed circuits used in optical electronic devices and receivers.

The role supports hardware validation activities: setting up experiments, collecting and analyzing data, improving test automation, and presenting results to the engineering team.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for currently enrolled undergraduate students (see Education Requirements for specifics).

Responsibilities

Typical duties during the internship include:

• Set up and run electrical lab measurements on analog and communication circuits.
• Use lab instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers) and learn proper measurement techniques.
• Create and improve automated test code to remotely collect measurement data.
• Collect, analyze data, document test procedures and results, and present findings in weekly team meetings.
• Understand and extend Python automation scripts to cover required test cases.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and eligibility:

• Solid foundation in analog circuit fundamentals and interest in lab-based chip and photonic measurements.
• Methodical problem-solving and hardware debugging skills to trace issues to circuit behavior.
• Ability to analyze and present data clearly to engineering teams.
• Interest in writing automation scripts in Python; familiarity with Git, Confluence, and Jira.
• Willingness to learn lab instrumentation and measurement procedures.
• May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; applicants may be subject to export license review.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with expected graduation between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028. The posting notes intern PhD candidates separately for potential additional compensation.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected base pay range: USD 28–56 per hour. Intern benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, paid holidays, and mental health resources; additional compensation may apply for PhD interns.
