Algorithm Engineer

Role Summary

Develop image processing, signal processing, and AI algorithms for optical inspection and metrology systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. Work with cross-functional engineering teams to take algorithms from concept through production deployment and provide customer support in fabrication environments.

Responsibilities

Own algorithm development, validation, deployment, and field support.

• Design, develop, and optimize image and signal processing algorithms for wafer inspection and metrology.
• Build models and simulations, develop proofs of concept, and implement production-quality software architecture.
• Characterize, validate, and profile algorithm performance; optimize for accuracy and throughput.
• Investigate and resolve complex algorithm and system issues encountered in customer manufacturing environments; provide onsite support when required.
• Collaborate with software, systems, product, applications, and hardware engineers to prototype, test, and deploy new capabilities.
• Analyze large-scale production data to improve robustness and defect-detection performance.
• Document work and support product releases; contribute to future technology roadmaps.

Requirements

Core technical skills and professional attributes.

• Strong background in image processing, image segmentation, texture analysis, feature extraction, or signal processing.
• Experience in pattern recognition, statistical data analysis, and machine learning / deep learning for computer vision.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB and/or Python for algorithm development.
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting algorithms in production or manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective written and verbal communication, and ability to collaborate with distributed teams.
• Highly desired: CPU optimization (SIMD/SSE/AVX), GPU programming (CUDA), and high-performance computing or algorithm acceleration experience.

Education Requirements

Doctorate (PhD) with 0 years related experience; Master’s degree with 3 years related experience; Bachelor’s degree with 5 years related experience.
