Job Title

AI Software Development Engineer - Neuromorphic Computing (Fixed-Term)

Role Summary

Join the team building Intel's next-generation neuromorphic AI software platform and help deliver a production-grade SDK for edge and robotics applications on novel AI hardware. Work across compiler, hardware, runtime, systems, and application teams to create highly optimized tools that enable neuromorphic workloads.

This is a fixed-term role (12–24 months) based in Munich with a hybrid work model.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typical experience range ~3–5+ years in relevant software or compiler development roles.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include building compiler and tooling components for neuromorphic and event-driven AI systems.

  • Design and implement compiler technologies for autonomous and event-driven AI workloads.
  • Address compilation challenges for massively parallel spatial architectures (partitioning, placement/routing, scheduling, kernel selection, distributed memory allocation).
  • Develop and extend compiler infrastructure using LLVM and MLIR.
  • Create domain-specific languages and high-performance kernels to maximize application efficiency.
  • Prototype and validate emerging AI workloads on neuromorphic accelerators.
  • Collaborate with hardware, runtime, systems, and application engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Maintain software quality via code reviews, automated tests, benchmarking, and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • Strong professional experience with C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with LLVM and/or MLIR compiler frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of software engineering practices: Git, code review, testing, debugging, CI/CD.
  • Experience using AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
  • Strong English communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with modern AI compiler/deployment tools (Triton, IREE, TVM, ONNX, OpenVINO).
  • Experience with AI accelerators, neuromorphic hardware, or heterogeneous computing systems.
  • Parallel programming and performance optimization experience (CUDA, OpenCL, multithreading).
  • Background in AI model development (computer vision, NLP, LLMs, VLMs, signal processing).
  • Experience with optimization algorithms (ILP, SAT/SMT, graph partitioning) and profiling tools (VTune, Nsight, cProfile, VizTracer).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
