Work with cross-functional teams to define architectures, build simulation methodologies, and validate system-level performance targets for next-generation optical and electrical networks-on-chip.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting expects research experience and demonstrable work in simulation and parallel systems; specific minimums are listed in the Qualifications section.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Define architectures and designs to meet specifications and performance targets for systems using optical interconnects and advanced electrical networks-on-chip.
  • Optimize network-on-chip performance and parallel system behavior.
  • Develop simulation methodologies for scalable electro-photonic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead project development activities.
  • Advise on test plans and overall system characterization.
  • Document design work with review materials and detailed design descriptions.

Requirements

Key must-have and preferred qualifications.

  • Must-have: 2+ peer-reviewed publications and/or patents in simulation, design, optimization, or implementation of parallel algorithms and network system simulations.
  • Must-have: Experience with the gem5 simulation system (minimum ~6 months).
  • Must-have: Proven experience with parallel system simulation and network-on-chip performance optimization.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong proficiency in CPU and GPU parallelization techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience building end-to-end simulation frameworks that bridge electronics and photonics.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with switch fabric architectures and routing algorithms.
  • Nice-to-have: Software and hardware design experience using C/C++ and Python.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong oral and written communication skills.

Education Requirements

Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering is required (specified in minimum qualifications). The posting references Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering fields; no alternative equivalent-degree language was provided.
