AI/ML System Architecture Lead (f/m/d)

Role Summary

Lead a team of AI/ML architects and engineers to define and deliver AI system architectures for NXP edge semiconductor and embedded platforms. Act as the technical lead interfacing with Product Management, SoC and System Architecture teams, customers, partners, and industry groups to integrate AI into product roadmaps and ecosystem efforts.

Experience Level

Senior — requires extensive experience (10+ years overall) with at least 5 years of practical AI/ML work in a mixed hardware–software environment.

Responsibilities

Accountable for architecture definition, hands-on prototyping, team leadership, and external representation of NXP's Edge AI capabilities.

• Drive and be hands-on in defining AI/ML architectures for target products and solutions, balancing performance, power, and cost.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate customer requirements into architecture choices and specifications.
• Work closely with SoC and System Architects to create and publish AI/ML architecture specifications and related documentation.
• Model and prototype AI use cases on current and future platforms to validate designs and trade-offs.
• Lead internal and third-party AI IP evaluation, benchmarking, and selection activities.
• Represent the AI IP & Solutions team with external partners, industry consortia, standards bodies, and open-source ecosystems.
• Communicate technical direction through presentations, publications, and industry participation.

Requirements

Must-have technical leadership, hands-on AI/ML experience, and strong communication skills. Security-conscious working style required when performing tasks in scope of security certifications.

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• At least 5 years of practical AI/ML experience, preferably in mixed HW–SW environments.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and driving architecture decisions.
• Experience collaborating with SoC, system architects, and product management.
• Hands-on ability to model and prototype AI use cases on product platforms.
• Experience evaluating, benchmarking, and selecting AI IP and third-party solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work reliably under security certification requirements.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (MSc) required in Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a closely related field. PhD is a strong plus, ideally with an AI/ML specialization.
