AI/ML Physical Design Flow Engineer
TenstorrentJob Title
AI/ML Physical Design Flow Engineer
Role Summary
Tenstorrent is hiring a Physical Design Engineer to architect, integrate, and deploy AI/ML-driven solutions into production RTL-to-GDS physical design flows across advanced process nodes. The role partners with verification, timing, extraction, DFT, and EDA vendors to improve PPA and runtime through custom CAD tools and ML-enabled methodologies.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically candidates with around 5+ years of hands-on physical design / CAD methodology experience; the company may consider other levels during interview and will align offers to assessed level.
Responsibilities
Deliver end-to-end physical design methodologies and deploy ML-driven optimizations into production flows.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to solve complex physical design challenges across IPs and projects.
- Develop and enhance RTL-to-GDS flows: floorplanning, synthesis, P&R, STA, signoff, and assembly.
- Architect and integrate AI/ML-driven solutions to improve engineering efficiency, turnaround time, and quality of results (QoR).
- Optimize EDA tools and custom CAD flows using data-driven and ML-based techniques.
- Collaborate closely with verification, extraction, timing, DFT groups and EDA vendors to validate and deploy changes.
- Design, validate, and monitor ML model deployment in production CAD environments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints for the role.
- 5+ years practical experience in Physical Design CAD methodology at advanced nodes (synthesis, P&R, STA, signoff, hierarchical flows).
- Proven track record improving PPA and/or runtime on high-performance, low-power taped-out designs.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools (example: Fusion Compiler) across the full physical design flow.
- Strong scripting and data skills: Python and Tcl.
- Experience designing or deploying data-driven or ML-based optimizations; familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) is desirable.
- Ability to drive complex projects independently and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Must be eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology; employment may be contingent on citizenship/permanent residency or ability to obtain required government authorization.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is stated as the baseline, or equivalent practical experience. The posting also describes a candidate profile with ~5+ years of physical design/CAD methodology experience.
