AI/ML Logic Design Engineer - Senior
QualcommJob Title
AI/ML Logic Design Engineer - Senior
Role Summary
Design and develop microarchitecture and RTL for Qualcomm's Hexagon NPU, focusing on performance, power, and area (PPA) tradeoffs for AI/ML workloads. Work within the DSP Architecture and Design team to take features from concept through tape-out and provide feasibility analysis.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Candidate should have multiple years of high-performance microprocessor or logic design experience (posting indicates 2+ years of relevant experience as a baseline).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include microarchitecture definition, RTL development, and early PPA validation.
- Collaborate with architects and micro‑architects to define future Hexagon NPU microarchitecture.
- Drive RTL design and implementation in SystemVerilog, owning features from concept through tape-out.
- Perform early logic synthesis, static timing analysis, and power estimation to validate design choices.
- Evaluate design pipeline end‑to‑end: ISA, microarchitecture, RTL, and synthesis feasibility.
- Use industry-standard simulators, synthesis tools, and power/performance analysis frameworks.
- Debug and optimize EDA tool flows; resolve tool-related issues to improve iteration efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted when appropriate.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and RTL design methodologies (must-have).
- Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts relevant to accelerator design (must-have).
- Proficiency in Python, Perl, and shell scripting for design automation and tooling (must-have).
- Experience with Git and other revision-control systems (must-have).
- Experience with early logic synthesis, static timing analysis, and power estimation tools (must-have).
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills (must-have).
- Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced team environment (must-have).
- Experience optimizing EDA flows and debugging tool-related issues (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields. Equivalent practical experience is accepted per the posting's minimum-qualification options.
