Job Title
AI/ML-driven ASIC Design and Implementation Automation Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the exploration and prototyping of AI/ML methods and automation to improve ASIC/SoC design and implementation flows (power, performance, area, verification). Work with architecture, IP, SoC design, verification and implementation teams to pilot and integrate automation on real designs and advanced process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting specifies approximately 5 years of relevant software development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on researching, building and validating AI/ML-based CAD automation and integrating it into existing design flows.
- Research and prototype AI/ML techniques (GenAI, Reinforcement Learning, Graph Neural Networks, CNNs) for VLSI CAD and implementation automation.
- Develop and evaluate prototype solutions to improve PPA and verification quality for SoC and IP projects.
- Collaborate with academic research, architecture, IP, SoC design, verification and implementation teams across sites.
- Pilot automation on actual designs to validate methods and iterate on tool/flow requirements.
- Prescribe tool features and methodology changes to leverage AI/ML across design, verification and implementation flows.
- Work on advanced-node technologies for Edge-AI, automotive processors and microcontroller products.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience
- Strong AI/ML expertise combined with a software development background.
- Minimum ~5 years developing complex software projects.
- Hands-on programming experience in Python and C++.
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments, revision control (Git, BitBucket) and standard SW development/debug tools.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and effective verbal/written communication.
Nice-to-have / desirable
- Experience with data structures, algorithms and optimization problem solving.
- Prior VLSI CAD methodology and tool development experience.
- Familiarity with EDA tools for design, verification, DFT and implementation.
- Understanding of design/layout constraints (SDC, clocks, CDC, RDC), static timing analysis, and low-power/UPF flows.
- Experience with design revision control (DesignSync), Splunk, Jenkins, LSF and CI/CD processes.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
