AI/ML Driven ASIC Design and Implementation Automation Expert
Role Summary
Work in Advanced Chip Engineering to research and prototype AI/ML-driven automation for ASIC/SoC design and implementation. The role focuses on improving power, performance, area, and overall quality by developing and piloting AI/ML solutions across IP and SoC teams and collaborating with academic and industry partners.
Base salary range (California): $179,800β$247,200 per year.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of experience applying AI/ML techniques to real-world optimization problems.
Responsibilities
Deliver AI/ML solutions and automation that integrate into VLSI CAD and SoC implementation flows. Key responsibilities include:
- Research and evaluate state-of-the-art AI/ML methods (GenAI, reinforcement learning, graph neural networks, convolutional networks) for VLSI/CAD problems.
- Develop prototypes and pilot implementations on real IP and SoC designs to measure PPA and quality improvements.
- Collaborate with architecture, IP, design-implementation, and verification teams, and coordinate with academic partners.
- Define requirements and interfaces for tools and automation features to be integrated into CAD flows.
- Analyze results, optimize models for production constraints, and document methods and outcomes.
- Drive cross-site digital transformation initiatives related to design automation.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 7+ years hands-on experience applying AI/ML (LLMs, CNN, RNN, GraphNN) to optimization problems.
- Proficient in Python and C++ for algorithm and tool development.
- Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and software development for optimization.
- Experience with Unix/Linux, revision control (Git, BitBucket), build systems, and software debug tools.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with VLSI design and implementation flows: timing analysis, constraints (SDC), CDC, low-power flows (UPF), and layout.
- Familiarity with HDL (SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL), physical design flows, and EDA tools.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins), logging/monitoring (Splunk), schedulers (LSF), and design revision control (DesignSync).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
