Job Title
AI/ML-driven ASIC Design and Implementation Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and prototype AI/ML-based automation methods and tools to improve efficiency and quality (power, performance, area, verification) for SoC and IP development across the organization. Collaborate with architecture, IP, SoC design, verification, implementation and design enablement teams to pilot solutions on real designs.
This role focuses on integrating state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques into VLSI CAD flows for advanced-node SoCs and microcontrollers.
Experience Level
Mid-level β approximately 5 years of professional experience in software development for complex projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include research, prototyping, evaluation and integration of AI/ML techniques in VLSI design and implementation flows.
- Research and evaluate AI/ML approaches (GenAI, reinforcement learning, graph neural networks, convolutional networks) for CAD applications.
- Develop prototypes and automation to address design quality and implementation challenges on actual designs.
- Collaborate with academic researchers, AI/ML experts, architecture, IP and SoC teams across sites to validate methods.
- Prescribe tool requirements and workflows to improve power, performance, area and verification outcomes.
- Integrate and pilot new automation in existing design, verification and implementation flows.
- Document findings and provide recommendations for production tool and flow changes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- About 5 years developing complex software projects with hands-on programming experience.
- Proficient in Python and C++ for tool and prototype development.
- Strong AI/ML expertise and software background, with experience applying ML methods to practical problems.
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments and standard software development/debug tools.
- Experience with revision control systems (Git, BitBucket) and CI/CD tooling.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and clear verbal/written communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience in VLSI CAD methodology and EDA tool development.
- Familiarity with EDA flows for design, verification, DFT and implementation.
- Understanding of design/layout and constraints (SDC, clocks, CDC, RDC), static timing analysis, low-power techniques and UPF.
- Experience with design revision control tools (DesignSync) and build/CI tools such as Make, Jenkins, LSF, Splunk.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
