AI GPU Cache Designer
Intel CorporationJob Title
AI GPU Cache Designer
Role Summary
As a SoC Cache Design Engineer on Intel's AI SoC team you will design and deliver cache subsystems for AI GPUs, owning microarchitecture, RTL implementation, integration and verification to meet power, performance and area targets.
You will work closely with verification, physical design and silicon bring-up teams to deliver production-quality IP for AI SoCs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Experience guidance: typically 12+ years with a Bachelor's, 8+ years with a Master's, or 6+ years with a PhD.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include microarchitecture, RTL implementation, subsystem integration, verification coordination and silicon bring-up.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs against performance, power and area targets.
- Define and document microarchitecture specifications for cache and complex SoC IP blocks.
- Implement synthesizable RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog and deliver synthesis- and timing-clean designs.
- Integrate subsystems and support system-level simulation and verification.
- Collaborate with verification teams to ensure comprehensive validation and coverage.
- Develop and maintain timing constraints; support synthesis, timing closure and formal equivalence checks.
- Lead silicon bring-up efforts including post-silicon validation, debug and performance analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design methodology and quality improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have:- Advanced RTL design proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Hands-on SoC system integration experience.
- Experience with standard bus protocols such as AXI and AHB and embedded processor architectures.
- Practical experience resolving clock domain crossings, power optimization and timing closure.
- Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, TCL).
- Proven collaboration with verification and physical design teams.
- Willingness to undergo an extended background investigation (Position of Trust).
- Knowledge of high-speed and low-power design techniques.
- Familiarity with EDA tools (VCS, Questa, IES), lint tools (Spyglass) and FPGA prototyping tools (Xilinx Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus).
- Experience in SoC multicore CPU subsystem design and GPU cache development.
- Leadership and mentoring experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field (typically with ~12+ years of relevant experience); OR Master's degree in a relevant field (~8+ years of experience); OR PhD in a relevant field (~6+ years of experience). Relevant fields include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other technical disciplines.
