Job Title

AI Frameworks Engineer

Role Summary

The AI Frameworks Engineer will design, develop, and optimize AI frameworks and inference runtimes to accelerate deep learning and generative AI across Intel hardware. The role focuses on scalable solutions for computational graph transformations, distributed algorithms, and cross-backend performance optimization.

You will work within Intel's Software Group, collaborating with framework teams and machine learning researchers to deliver high-performance inference and training tooling for edge and cloud environments.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience expectation: approximately 3–7 years (Master's with 3+ years or Bachelor's with 4+ years as noted in qualifications).

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include designing and implementing framework components, optimizing performance, and enabling distributed deep learning.

  • Develop and optimize AI frameworks such as OpenVINO and integrate with external frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Implement distributed algorithms (model/data parallelism, dataflow-based communication) for deep learning workloads.
  • Transform computational graph representations and implement ML primitives in numerical libraries.
  • Profile distributed models to identify performance bottlenecks and propose optimizations.
  • Optimize code across a variety of hardware backends and perform performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with researchers and framework teams to integrate algorithmic and system-level improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for this role. Preferred items are listed separately.

  • Proven expertise in C++ development, including debugging, performance analysis, and modern software design.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading and ability to write thread-safe code.
  • Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and compiler technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with numerical modeling, high-performance computing, or computer vision workloads.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing distributed deep learning models and implementing distributed training/inference solutions.
  • Experience optimizing code for multiple hardware backends and performing low-level performance tuning.
  • Ability to collaborate with framework teams and machine learning researchers to integrate advancements.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with generative AI models (Transformers, Diffusion), model optimization techniques (quantization, pruning), familiarity with PyTorch/TensorFlow/Hugging Face, OpenVINO or similar inference runtimes, and open-source contributions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with 4+ years of experience, OR a Master's degree in a related field with 3+ years of experience. Fields explicitly referenced: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics. No certifications were specified.
