Job Title

AI Engineer — Cloud Software & AI Platforms (Contract)

Role Summary

Join the Cloud Software Engineering team focused on Quartus AI to design, build, and optimize AI-powered applications and platform services that improve developer productivity, knowledge discovery, and engineering workflows.

The role spans machine learning, LLMs, retrieval, data pipelines, and cloud-native services; you will collaborate with engineering, product, and domain experts to deliver scalable AI solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level — expects approximately 3+ years of industry experience in software engineering, machine learning, data science, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

Deliver production-ready AI components and platform functionality across model, data, and service layers.

  • Design and implement ML and AI solutions using modern LLMs, retrieval systems, and agent-based architectures.
  • Build and optimize agentic workflows that coordinate LLMs, tools, enterprise data, and APIs for multi-step reasoning and automation.
  • Implement data processing, indexing, and retrieval pipelines to enable intelligent search and knowledge discovery.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and monitoring to measure quality, accuracy, and user impact.
  • Experiment with model selection, prompt engineering, retrieval strategies, ranking, and fine-tuning techniques.
  • Analyze system performance and drive improvements via data-driven methods.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native services and APIs for AI applications.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews and promote engineering best practices.
  • Stay current with advances in generative AI, information retrieval, and related technologies.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required for immediate contribution.

Must-have:

  • 3+ years industry experience in software engineering, ML, data science, or related roles.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with modern SDLC practices.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI, large language models, or information retrieval systems.
  • Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts.
  • Experience building scalable services on public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Eligibility for any required U.S. export authorizations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks and agentic AI systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure AI Search, Azure OpenAI, or comparable managed AI services.
  • Knowledge of evaluation frameworks, experimentation, and A/B testing.
  • Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with knowledge graphs, semantic search, recommendation systems, MLOps, or production model deployment.
  • Background in developer tools, enterprise software, or technical documentation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field (as listed by the employer).
