AI Chip Design Intern
Role Summary
Short-term internship supporting RTL development, verification, and performance analysis for AI accelerator chip modules. Work is with the chip design team on coding, synthesis, simulation, and documentation tasks.
Onsite locations: Hangzhou (Xiaoshan) or Shanghai (Pudong Zhangjiang). Typical internship duration is three months or longer.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Targeted at undergraduate students (third year and above) seeking hands-on experience in digital/AI chip design.
Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day tasks for the intern role:
- Implement and maintain RTL code; participate in synthesis and timing analysis.
- Support low-power design activities and module-level performance optimization.
- Assist with functional simulation and chip verification tasks.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate flows and tests.
- Prepare design documentation and analysis reports.
Requirements
Necessary skills and expectations; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have- Basic knowledge of digital integrated circuit design.
- Familiarity with at least one hardware description language: Verilog or VHDL.
- Understanding of computer architecture fundamentals: pipelines, caches, buses.
- Able to attend onsite at least 4 days per week; available for a minimum of 3 months preferred.
- Strong learning ability, clear logical thinking, and responsibility to complete assigned module tasks.
- Experience with simulation tools such as VCS, ModelSim, or Questa and basic Linux use.
- Project or internship experience with AI accelerators, NPU, GPU, or image-processing chips.
- Experience with FPGA development, SoC integration, or low-power design techniques.
- Ability to write scripts (Python, Perl, Tcl) and familiarity with UVM verification methodology.
Education Requirements
Undergraduate student (bachelor level), third year or above, in Computer Science, Microelectronics, Electronic Information, Automation, or related technical majors.
