Advanced Packaging Intern, BS - Summer 2027
Role Summary
The Advanced Packaging intern will support the Advanced Packaging team in evaluating and optimizing package and PCB designs to meet challenging electrical requirements for high-speed signaling and power delivery. The team focuses on multi-chip solutions, 3D packaging, co-packaged optics and advanced substrate materials while collaborating with internal IP and physical design groups.
Experience Level
Entry-level student internship (undergraduate intern).
Responsibilities
Work with engineering teams to evaluate and improve electrical performance of package and PCB designs.
- Evaluate package and PCB designs for signal and power integrity requirements.
- Collaborate with physical designers and IP teams to optimize electrical performance.
- Execute simulations and circuit extractions for signal and power integrity sign-off.
- Document results and present findings to engineering stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work eligibility considerations.
- Interest in hardware design and electrical behavior of packages and PCBs.
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic fundamentals, signal integrity concepts, and circuit simulation techniques.
- Experience with circuit extraction and simulation tools, and design methodology and optimization strategies.
- Effective communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (physical designers, IP teams).
- May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; non-U.S. applicants may be subject to export license review.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to 3D packaging, co-packaged optics, or advanced substrate materials.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering (BS) - undergraduate student internship; expected degree completion noted for Summer 2028 in the posting. PhD intern candidates are referenced for potential additional compensation. No other degree or certification requirements specified.
