Advanced Optics Design & Validation Student — Camera Hardware

Role Summary

Join the Apple Camera Hardware Engineering team in Herzliya to support design, test and validation of high-performance micro-optic components used in Apple products. The role combines laboratory optical measurement, test automation and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level student position. Intended for current graduate students (master's or PhD) or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Work across prototype to mass-production phases to ensure micro-optic components meet performance and manufacturability targets.

• Design and operate optical measurement setups in the lab, including error analysis and troubleshooting.
• Define optical testing strategies for prototypes and mass-produced components.
• Automate test & measurement procedures and motion control systems.
• Analyze experimental data and present clear, concise results to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (optics, fabrication, hardware integration) to drive components into production.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for day-to-day success.

• Hands-on experience setting up and performing optical measurements in a laboratory.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages used for test automation (e.g., MATLAB, Python); experience with motion control helpful.
• Experience analyzing experimental data and communicating results clearly.
• Working knowledge of optics and laser concepts.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to deliver high-quality results on schedule.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

• Knowledge of metamaterials / metasurfaces.
• Familiarity with MEMS or semiconductor fabrication processes.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Education Requirements

M.Sc. or Ph.D. student in Electro-Optics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering (student status expected).
