Job Title
Advanced Development Engineer, Networking Architecture
Role Summary
Work on early-stage exploration of networking technologies by implementing proofs-of-concept and contributing to an architectural simulator used for pre-silicon design decisions. Collaborate with ASIC and software teams to convert open technical questions into validated design guidance.
Experience Level
Mid-level (3+ years of relevant experience)
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building prototypes, running experiments, and producing actionable analysis that informs architecture and roadmap choices.
- Implement proof-of-concept features to evaluate new technologies, protocols, and architectural approaches.
- Contribute to and maintain an in-house architectural simulator for pre-silicon exploration and modeling.
- Collaborate with ASIC architects and R&D to translate architectural decisions into working prototypes.
- Document experimental outcomes and translate findings into actionable team recommendations.
- Identify promising technologies and opportunities aligned with the networking roadmap.
- Develop AI and agentic frameworks to support architecture exploration and automation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.
- 3+ years experience in firmware, embedded systems, device drivers, or systems programming.
- Strong software engineering skills with the ability to implement proof-of-concept code from scratch.
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and convert experimental results into actionable insights.
- Experience collaborating with hardware/ASIC teams to prototype or validate architecture choices.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience writing firmware or low-level C/C++ code.
- Coursework or projects in computer architecture, simulation, or performance modeling.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (Ethernet, IP, data-center fabrics).
- Curiosity about hardware/software interactions within the networking stack.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred; or equivalent practical experience.
