2027 Masters Hardware Engineering Intern / Co-op

Role Summary

AMD Hardware Engineering intern/co-op working on discrete and embedded hardware products. The role supports hardware development, validation, and automation by collaborating with engineers to build tools and systems that improve engineering efficiency and product quality.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) student role performed in either a hybrid or onsite structure during the co-op/intern term. Multiple U.S. office locations are available.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship / co-op for current students (Masters-level focus).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include engineering support, development of tools and test systems, and participation in hardware validation and verification activities.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams on discrete and embedded hardware projects.
  • Develop applications and large-scale systems to support hardware teams.
  • Assist in ASIC design and verification or in board/system design and signal/power integrity tasks.
  • Support hardware automation, validation, and test activities on pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms.
  • Use and support UNIX and JTAG-based workflows and test infrastructure.
  • Document work, report progress, and communicate findings with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Candidates should be actively enrolled students with relevant hands-on skills. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • Ability to work full time (40 hours/week) during the assigned co-op/intern term and to work onsite or in a hybrid model at a U.S. location.
  • Experience with at least one of: C/C++, Python, Verilog, VHDL, MATLAB, Spice, Perl, Ruby.
  • Familiarity with ASIC design & verification, or system/board design, circuit board layout, signal integrity, and power design.
  • Experience or interest in hardware automation, validation, test, and use of pre-silicon/post-silicon platforms.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX tools and JTAG-based debug flows is preferred.
  • Interest or experience with ML/AI or computer architecture is a plus.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a U.S.-based Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. (The posting also references internship opportunities for undergraduate and PhD students more generally, but this specific listing targets Master's students.)
