2027 Masters Hardware Design Verification Engineering Intern/Co-op

Role Summary

Internship/co-op on AMD's Hardware Design Verification team supporting development and delivery of high-end Machine Intelligence products. Work with senior engineers to create and execute verification tests, simulations, and system-level validation.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship/co-op for current university students. Typical full-time student work terms range from one semester to multiple quarters/summer sessions.

Responsibilities

Typical assignments include verification, simulation, system testing, and production validation. Tasks will vary by project.

  • Develop and execute performance verification test plans, simulation test cases and models with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Write and maintain scripts for resource tracking and automation (Perl, Python, Shell).
  • Test and support regression flows that use Perl/Python/MySQL/PHP.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools and process improvements to increase simulation performance and team efficiency.
  • Support debugging, refine test cases/models, and contribute to Verilog/SystemVerilog code where applicable.
  • Build test platforms and perform system-level hardware/software testing and production validation.
  • Perform low-level hardware/software testing, debug issues, and identify root cause.

Requirements

  • Programming and scripting experience: Python, Perl, C/C++, Shell; familiarity with UVM is beneficial.
  • Experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog for verification tasks.
  • Understanding of digital systems, computer organization, and logic design (FSM, timing, registers, flops).
  • Hands-on system-level hardware/software configuration and debugging in Linux/Unix/Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers is advantageous.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for the duration of the co-op/intern term; role requires onsite or hybrid attendance.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship for this position.

Currently enrolled at a U.S.-based university.
